With the British summer now in full swing, today it fell to Royal Ascot to kick off its festivities.
Opening this morning with an expected 300,000 attendees expected over the 5-day event, all eyes are on the Berkshire racecourse for a whole host of different reasons.
But while a number of people will be keeping up to date with the odds and the races, many more of us annually find our attention drawn to Ascot’s sartorial highlights.
Famed for its ability to welcome some of the most extravagant head wear, the event also often plays host to some of the most creative dresses and trouser suits.
Arriving this morning on day one of the annual extravaganza, onlookers have already been treated to a number of intriguing looks.
Leading the way were retro girl band The Tootsie Rollers, who impress annually with their coordinated looks.
Joining them was racegoer Heidi Lorton-Hill. who wore a hat with model ponies depicting the scene of a horse jump.
Some of the most extravagant hats so far have come from the likes of Anna Pribylova – who wore an angled silver hat with what looked like shards of metal – and model Carly Baker, whose head piece doubled up as a midday snack thanks to its embedded macarons.
